A Family Atelier, Est. 1924

Four generations of stem-keepers — from Shimizu to Seattle.

The Hani Hani lineage begins in 1924 at the Shimizu flower markets, where our great-grandmother traded camellias for rice. A century later, master florist Hani Tanaka-Okafor opened our Seattle studio after a decade of apprenticeship in Aalsmeer, Kyoto, and Brooklyn.

Every arrangement we build inherits that lineage — a discipline of seasonality, a refusal to waste a single stem, and a quiet conviction that flowers are not decoration but a living language. Today, our team of 41 — including 22 senior designers and three sustainability analysts — works from a 14,000-square-foot studio in Ballard.

Farm-Direct Sourcing

Every stem is traced — from 38 partner farms to your doorway.

Hani Hani maintains direct relationships with 38 certified partner growers across Washington, Oregon, California, and Ecuador. We hold both the Certified American Grown and Bee Better Certified seals — the only Pacific Northwest florist to carry both.

Each bundle that arrives at our Ballard studio carries a farm-level record: variety, harvest date, grower, and field. Our climate-controlled delivery vans then extend vase-life by an average of 2.3 days over standard couriers — and every delivery within 40 miles of our flagship studio is carbon-neutral, same-day.

Meet our growers

The Bloom Foundation · Est. 2019

Three percent of every order restores pollinator meadow across the Pacific Northwest — 47,000 square feet and counting. It is a small figure against the seasons we ask our flowers to perform, and we mean it to grow. Every stem we cut owes something back to the field it came from.
